Trans for Export

THE INTERNATIONAL TRANS PROJECT

This international work has been going on since the end of the 80's. It now constitutes an editorial guiding thread, just like last year's European Chronicles, part of the European cultural season during the French presidency of the EU.

Turned towards research and exploration of musical movements and where they originate, our programming puts us in touch with artists, labels, editors and agents on all continents. On the other hand, our collaboration with foreign media and professionals is strong and continuous.

Since the 2001 edition, the International Trans project consolidates and extends our work overseas, in partnership with Cultures France, governmental operator on all international actions. The principle of this project is simple: the bands have performed or are about to during the Trans in Rennes! Conceived as a means to extend the collaboration with the artists beyond the time span of one edition in an exceptional and out of the ordinary context, where they are joined by local artists.

Here are our past actions:

Expo 2002
We were invited to program two evenings at the Cargo, in Neuchâtel, for the Expo 2002.
Tans/Ubu/Bato Fou

In March 2003 two new evenings and two residencies opposing Dj Morpheus vs. El Diabolo (Réunion) and Dj Buddha vs. Tamm Ha Tamm (Réunion).
Norway 2005

During the festival By-Larm, one evening in honour of Rennes and one improvised concert at the top of a glacier.
The Trans in Beijing

18 and 19 June 2005 were two memorable days at Chaoyang Park. A huge stage, 16 artists in front of 16 000 spectators for the first open air festival in the Chinese capital!

THE TRANS IN RUSSIA

The presentation of a project in the framework of "Années Croisées" in Beijing in 2005 and now in Russia is an additional opportunity to breathe life into the ideas originally developed by the festival. It is part of the feeling that one should get out of his  sual environment and get exposed to new experiments and confrontations with different audiences.

The challenge of an "international" project is always complex: cultural and artistic peculiarities of other civilisations weave different scenery than what we are used to. Herein lays the interest of our approach: accepting these differences and using them as a setting for new and unusual proposals, while staying true to oneself and continuing the wager of curiosity as driving force for new discoveries and the unfailing attraction for the artists’ singularity. The Trans' project in Russia has many distinguishing features:

- It lasts a whole year;

- It visits other cities and places than the capital;

- It takes part of well known events (Winter Music Conference in Sochi);

- It takes place in one of Moscow's most hype places.

Two concerts have already gathered 1500 persons in the Arma 09 venue in the area of Kursky Vogzal:
18 June 2009 / Moscow / Arma 09

Naïve New Beaters / Tepr / Zombie Zombie / Dj Sandra
18 September 2009 / Moscow / Arma 09

Birdy Nam Nam / Surkin / Pat Panik / Dj Sirumov / Dj Orange / Dj Fstep Back2back
